In the work we do here at Hands of Hope Tucson, we often serve families who have no hope. When clients walk through our doors they are facing what seem like impossible situations and cannot see a way out on their own. Some clients considering abortion are doing so because they are homeless, jobless, single or struggling with addiction. They believe if they continue with an unplanned pregnancy they will face an overwhelming struggle. So what do we do? We offer love, hope and practical support.

At our Gala this past fall, Pastor Tony Evans said, "Hope is joyful expectation of the future." As I pondered his words I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I liked that definition- joyful expectation of the future. He went on to share the verse we all know and love from Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." He also reminded us that the verse came in one of the darkest chapters in one of the darkest books of the entire Bible, at a time when God’s people needed to hear it most. That is exactly what we do! We offer real hope during people’s darkest hour. We see for our clients what they can’t yet see...a future that is full of possibility!

God’s kingdom is a kingdom of hope, and He uses us, His body and His church, to bring that hope to women facing unplanned pregnancy in Tucson.
