Recently Hands of Hope Tucson collaborated with ProGrace for a workshop introducing a new conversational approach to the abortion debate that thinks, talks and acts more like Jesus would. The training sought to bridge the gap between the current cultural narrative that says you are either for the woman OR the child… When in reality the truth is that God’s heart is for both women and children to thrive during and after pregnancy. Can the local church be the solution that turns the tide of abortion? We believe it can!

On Tuesday, May 16th nearly 100 pastors, ministry leaders, and community partners met at Northminster Presbyterian Church for a half-day session diving into scripture - discussing the theology behind this new approach as we looked to God’s Word for truth centered around God’s design for women, children, and families.

Some basic takeaways provided in the training were:

• We are all sinners in need of God’s grace, love and acceptance – just like a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.
• God designed pregnancy in such a way that a woman and child are intertwined, and in order to help one you cannot bypass the other.
• During an unplanned pregnancy grace and love are necessary before any transformation can occur.
• Are women in crisis running to or from the Church? Why or why not? How can churches become a safe place for women facing unplanned pregnancies?
• How can the local church partner with an organization like Hands of Hope so that women and children can thrive during and after an unplanned pregnancy?
