Please either watch the above video or read all of this letter to the very end. It’s vitally important.
Every once in awhile a ministry finds itself in a situation where cash flow is such a concern that they need to reach out to friends and make their need known. Hands of Hope is in that situation.
While it is summer... time to slow down, relax, spend time with your family and travel for most of us, for those who come through our doors, thoughts of a relaxing summer are the last thing on their minds. Instead, fear, angst and even panic take over. As you know, this is why we are here. And when I say “we,” it means you, it means those who serve inside the walls of Hands of Hope Tucson and our entire team. Our doors need to remain open to meet women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Of the women we have served this year, nearly 50% were considering having an abortion. After coming to Hands of Hope and receiving love and support, 9 out of 10 clients who viewed their unborn child on ultrasound made a courageous choice for life!
Right now we find ourselves in a serious situation as we head into the fall. As a result of being faithful to the mission we serve, we are very close to being out of operating funds, including our reserve funds which usually carry us through the summer months. This letter is clearly a call for financial help – which will help us keep our doors open until our Gala Fundraising Event in the fall, when the majority of our giving comes in. We will also continue cutting our budget and trusting in God, knowing that with His help, proper conservative fiscal management, and the help of our friends, we will arrive at a financially healthy position.
We need $100,000 to get us through the summer. If you can make a transformational gift of $1,000 or an even larger sacrificial gift, this is the time when it is needed the most. And thanks to the new laws regarding the Arizona State Charitable Tax Credit program, up to $800/couple or $400/individual will be a dollar-for-dollar credit on your tax returns, meaning you are allowed to get that portion of your gift to Hands of Hope Tucson back in the form of a tax credit next year. You don’t have to wait until the end of the year to make a difference.
Now for the good news: The number of abortions in Pima County continues to go down as our reach expands throughout the community. In fact, just yesterday a client who was considering abortion posted this on her personal Facebook page (along with photos of her new baby) “Without the help of Hands of Hope Tucson, I don't know where my family would be today. Unexpected pregnancies, whether you're married or not, aren't always welcome and are not always "good" news. Our circumstances sometimes cloud our feelings and our thinking. If it wasn't for the help, love and support I received from everyone at Hands of Hope I can't say with certainty that these pictures would be here today”.
This is not a letter we wanted to send, however we want you to know that we stand strong, trusting in the Lord and knowing that through the help of good friends like you, this ministry will continue to be here. We will continue to embrace those we serve like Jesus would, enlighten them with the truth of God’s word and empower them to make choices that will result in women and children thriving during and after an unplanned pregnancy.
However you choose to respond, please know that we truly value your prayers!
P.S. We really don’t make it a habit of sending out emergency letters, but when the need arises, we are glad to know we have friends like you who understand just how important it is that lifesaving resources are available to women when they need them most. Thank you for being one of our closest partners in our mission to promote a culture of life, hope and healing.
